Good luck with the trip. Glad to hear someone else gets ready too early and packs and then has too repack again.

Great post. Answers all my questions. Must admit that I've never seen the tv programmes but it looks a cracking walk. 15 miles is a good comfortable distance to walk in a day.

It's great that your doing it with your dad. I love walking with dad but we don't get to do the big or high walks these days as both his knees are knackered. He goes for his 3 op on them in a few weeks. I blame the golf.

You have a great time and I look forward to your updated and photographs.

Great post. Sometimes being so close to Ben Lomond you tend to forget how great a hill it is and the views are fantastic.
I've stood on Ben Lomond and seen the Merrick and stood on th e Merrick and seen Ben Lomond. That's the greatest view that I've had. It's a great hill and I shall have to climb it again soon. Something else added to the ever increasing list but thanks again for reminding me how great it is. :)

P.S. the slide show is cool ;) I shall have to incorporate one into my next post, somehow.

Good stuff. I did a similar route to this last year - got blown over twice on summit of Little Dun Fell so opted for a retreat rather than press on to Cross...pleased to make it at the second time of asking last month.

Couldn't agree more about the taking your time and that its the journey that's important. I am the slowest hill walker on the planet as I'm always stopping to look at the view, a stone an insect and just enjoying being out.

Just love being out but its a bit more difficult just now being an 8 month old Dad. Haven't really found a rhythm yet to getting away but the plans are a foot :)

Sounds like a good plan you've got and I'll be very interested to hear how it goes.

Hope you have a good walk. I covered 6 miles in 4 hours today :o) but this involved a lot of exploration and scrambling over boulders and general nosiness at the bottom of Stanage, sketching, pondering life with a friend and just taking time. It meant that I spied a dead Dragonfly in a pool on the tops. It meant that I saw how the weather patterns were strange for the time of year. It meant that I saw patterns to the rock face and started to see where there had been waves in eons past. Taking time, while obviously not this slowly for you, means that a whole world unfolds for you and opens up before your eyes and you see things properly with greater meaning.
I hope you pass your test and that the future unfolds for you too!
